Regulation (EU) 2017/352 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 15 February 2017 establishing a framework for the provision of port services and common rules on the financial transparency of ports will be directly applicable from 24 March 2019. This regulation is designed to remedy a series of shortcomings in the operation of TEN-T ports by establishing rules to correct distortion of competition in and between ports so as to enhance and improve the significant role these ports need to play in the single market.
Hosted by the Port of Barcelona and sponsored by Ernst & Young Abogados, on 21-22 September 2017 a conference was held in Barcelona under the tagline The European Ports Regulation and its Impact on the Sector to examine this regulation and its bearing in the future on our State port system (port services, charges, public ownership, organisation) and on other port models. This book brings together the papers presented at the conference by academic and business experts in port law.
