L’idée de publier un livre sur l’Institut similaire à celui publié en commémoration du 100e anniversaire de l’Institut en 1973 avait surgi lors de la mise en place de sa Commission d’Histoire en 2016. Les membres de l’Institut en ont été informés par le secrétaire général lors de la session d’Hyderabad en 2017. Considérant que l’Institut a deux langues de travail, le français et l’anglais, il a été décidé de laisser le choix de la langue à chaque auteur.

Le livre contient 45 chapitres, 16 en français et 29 en anglais, et est divisé en trois parties.

The idea to publish a book on the Institute similar to the one issued in commemoration of the Institute’s 100th anniversary in 1973 had come up during the establishment of its History Commission in 2016. The members of the Institute were informed about it by the Secretary-General during the 2017.
Considering that the Institute has two working languages— French and English—it was decided to leave the choice of the language to each author.

The book contains 45 chapters, 16 in French and 29 in English, and is divided in three parts.
